TOP GUN: "FIRE AT
WILL!"
Veteran
actor James Tolkan returns as
Hondo, the squadron commanding officer, a role similar to the one
he played in the film. Co-starring is female lead Julie Carmen.
The game, being developed on CD-ROM for the PC, will utilize live
action video in its user interface to enhance realism and make the player a
part of the story. The game combines high-res 3D graphics and
authentic flying dynamics with the familiar adventure environment
developed by TOP GUN the movie.
"The combination of leading edge technology, fine actors and one of the best dogfighting films ever will result in a game like no other on the market," said Louis Gioia, Jr., president of the Spectrum HoloByte Division. "The action in Fire At Will is intense and realistic but with a plug-and-play design so players can jump right into the heat of battle from the start."
The live-action video utilized in "Fire At Will!"
was shot during a 2-week period in a San Francisco studio. A cast
of 20 actors took part in the "blue screen" shoot,
including Tolkan, whose credits include roles in "Dick Tracy"
and "Back to the Future I, II and III." Carmen
recently starred in the John Carpenter thriller " In the
Mouth of Madness" and has also enjoyed starring roles in
the Robert Redford-directed film "The Milagro Beanfield
War" and the HBO television series "Dream On."
